Amazing Food in Slovakia, Slovakia Cuisine, Street Food in Slovakia. Slovakia is a central European country known for its dramatic natural landscape and many castles. Near the Austrian border, capital city Bratislava features a pedestrian-only Old Town with a lively cafe scene. Rising on a hill above the Danube River, Bratislava Castle houses a branch of the Slovak National Museum, with displays from Roman artifacts to 20th-century arts and crafts. Slovak Republic is the official name, but the geographical centre of Europe is mostly known just as Slovakia (or Slovensko in Slovak language). The republic was established on 1st of January 1993 after Czechoslovakia split into two countries – Czech Republic and Slovakia. Since then, the political system in both countries is parliamentary democ...

Join us in Bratislava, Slovakia as we sample Slovak food for the first time in this review of traditional Slovakian dishes at Prašná Bašta restaurant in the old town. Wanting to sample as much traditional Slovak cuisine as we possibly could we ordered an appetizer, two mains and a dessert to share along with some local produced wines. The meal itself was outstanding. Everything we had was delicious but we kind of made the mistake of ordering two many hearty and filling things to share when we probably could have swapped in a lighter appetizer for example. Regardless, it was a memorable meal and we'd highly recommend you try Slovak food whenever you get a chance: 1) Slovak Wine - André and Cabernet Sauvignon (both dry reds) 2) Slovak Appetizer - Palacinka Hortobágyi (Pancake with shredded ...
Having stayed with locals in an Airbnb Helen and I got to know a little about the Slovakian cuisine. Eager to try it we headed to Slovak Pub where we tried some traditional Slovakian dishes first hand. Be sure to check out our entire Slovakian playlist, as well as our other 'food and drink tasting' playlist.

Come join us for a Slovak Food taste test as we visit a cave restaurant (Modrá Hviezda) in Bratislava Slovakia for lunch. We ended up ordering 5 different items from the menu including two drinks (wine and beer), two mains (both meat dishes) and a dessert to share. It ended up being a fantastic meal as the Slovak main dishes were hearty, rich and flavorful. We left feeling full and satisfied. The cave atmosphere was also very cool and cozy and we'd highly recommend this place. Keep in mind it is not a budget meal and ordering a couple of meat dishes, drinks and dessert will cost you over 40 Euros most likely. 1) Frankovka modrá red wine (dark skinned late ripening grapes rich in tannin with a spicy character) 2) Zlatý Bažant 'Golden Pheasant' Slovak Beer (12° svetlé pivo light coloured be...

Lángos is a Hungarian food speciality, a deep fried flat bread made of a dough with flour, yeast, saltand water. It is also traditionally made in Vojvodina, Serbia, where it was introduced by the local Hungarians. Lángos is a dough made of water or milk and flour, with a dash of sugar and salt and fried in oil. Adding sour cream, yoghurt or mashed potatoes to the dough is optional, in the latter case it is called potato lángos (in Hungarian krumplis lángos). It is eaten fresh and warm, topped with sour cream and grated cheese, or Liptauer, ham, or sausages, or most frequently, without toppings, just rubbed with garlic or garlic butter, or doused with garlic water. Other ingredients and accompaniments can be mushroom, quark cheese, eggplant, cabbage, kefir, omelet, and a confectioner's sug...
